You’ll love how the flavours work in these vegetarian sloppy joes, lusciously stuffed into warm artisan hamburger buns. A refreshing salad of baby greens and crisp radishes is the perfect counterpoint to sweet hickory seasonings and BBQ sauce.

  • 15ml Minced garlic
  • 50g Diced onions
  • 120g Baby greens (lettuce mix, baby spinach, kale or arugula)
  • 2 Impossible™ beef burger patties (made from plants)
  • 200g Radishes
  • 30ml BBQ sauce
  • 45ml Sweet, Savoury Honey-Dijon vinaigrette
  • 2 Artisan hamburger buns
  • 8g Sweet Hickory BBQ spices (sugar, paprika, salt, onion, black pepper, garlic, cumin, parsley, Cayenne pepper, coriander seeds, thyme, oregano, rosemary, cinnamon, citric acid, cellulose fiber, hickory smoke flavour)

Preparation

Make the filling

  • Crumble the patties.

  • In a medium pan, heat a drizzle of oil on medium.

  • Add the onions and garlic. Sauté, 30 sec. to 1 min., until fragrant.

  • Add the crumbled patties and cook, stirring occasionally, 3 to 5 min., until beginning to brown; season with the spices.

  • Add the BBQ sauce and ¼ cup water (double for 4 portions).

  • Cook, stirring often, 1 to 2 min., until combined.

  • If the sauce seems dry, add 1 tbsp water at a time until you achieve your desired consistency.

Make the salad

  • Meanwhile, thinly slice the radishes.

  • In a large bowl, combine the baby greens, radishes, vinaigrette and S&P.

Toast the buns & serve

  • Warm the buns in the toaster.

  • Divide the bun bottoms between your plates. 

  • Top each bun bottom with the filling, a spoonful of the salad and a bun top

  • Serve the remaining salad on the side. Bon appétit!
