You know what they say, pizza dough is the mother of invention. Our ready-to-go doughballs are all about thinking outside the delivery box, especially when it comes to a vegetarian supper. Special-ticket items make this pie shine: the sweet earthiness of convenient caramelized onions and the edginess of aged cheddar lend a certain refinement. Preparation
Mise en place
Preheat the oven to 450°F. Set the dough aside to come up to room temperature. Pick the basil leaves off the stems. Thinly slice the zucchini. Core and thinly slice the sweet pepper crosswise.
Start the pizza
On the back of a well-oiled sheet pan, roll or stretch the dough out to a ½ inch thickness for a thick crust or ⅛ inch for a thin crust. Drizzle with oil and season with ½ the spices and S&P. Bake, 8 to 10 min., until partially cooked.
Sauté the vegetables
Meanwhile, in a large pan, heat a generous drizzle of oil on medium. Add the garlic and sauté, 30 sec. to 1 min., until fragrant. Add the zucchini and sweet pepper. Sauté, 4 to 6 min., until tender. Add the onions, remaining spices and S&P; stir well.
Finish the pizza
When the pizza is partially cooked, remove from the oven and spread with the tomato sauce. Top with the vegetables and cheese. Bake, 8 to 10 min., until the crust is golden brown and the cheese has melted.
Plate your dish
Divide the pizza (cut into wedges) between your plates. Garnish with the basil leaves (roughly chop before adding if desired). Bon appétit!
